Christmas sketches of 5th C

Preparing ourselves for this Christmas season we have performed some sketches created by us.

We have invented stories and amused our classmates acting them out in the classroom.

Each group has something to show.

Christmas in Ireland

 IRISH CAROL

Christmas In Killarney      Traditional Irish Song

CHORUS           The holly green, the ivy green
The prettiest picture you've ever seen
Is Christmas in Killarney
With all of the folks at home
It's nice, you know, to kiss your beau
While cuddling under the mistletoe
And Santa Claus you know, of course
Is one of the boys from home

The door is always open
The neighbors pay a call
And Father John before he's gone
Will bless the house and all
Our Hearts are light, our spirits bright
We'll celebrate our joy tonight
It´s Christmas in Killarney
With all of the folks at home

REPEAT CHORUS  The holly green, the ivy green…

We'll decorate the Christmas tree
When all the family's here
Around a roaring fire
We will raise a cup of cheer
There's gifts to bring, And songs to sing
And laughs to make the rafters ring
It´s Christmas in Killarney
With all of the folks at home

REPEAT CHORUS  The holly green, the ivy green…

We'll take the horse and sleigh all
Across the fields of snow
Listening to the jingle bells
Everywhere we go
How grand it feels to click your heels
And dance away to the jigs and reels
It's Christmas in Killarney
With all of the folks at home

REPEAT CHORUS  The holly green, the ivy green…

A CULTURAL INSIGHT OF CHRISTMAS IN UK.

All through December people get ready for Christmas by listening to Christmas pop songs on the radio and opening their advent calendars. These are calendars made from card with a door that you open for each day of December. Some have a picture inside, and others have chocolate!

In schools children typically do a nativity play. People decorate their houses with Christmas trees, holly, mistletoe and lights.

In the UK, Father Christmas comes on the 24th of December (Christmas Eve). People put up their stockings on the fireplace or next to their beds.

On the 25th of December, (Christmas Day), the children wake up and open their presents from Father Christmas.

When everyone is at the table, people pull Christmas Crackers, tubes made of cardboard that have a paper hat, a little toy, and a joke inside.

Christmas dinner

On Christmas day British people eat Christmas Dinner around 2 o’clock in the afternoon. This is composed of Turkey or Chicken, and lots of roast vegetables!  It is accompanied with stuffing, and a very delicious sauce called gravy!

In the evening on Christmas Day, people only eat some cheese and crackers, with pickled onions.

Christmas pudding and Christmas cake are typical desserts at Christmas.

Mince pies is probably the most important sweet food that people eat at Christmas. These are pastry with mince meat inside, it’s not real meat, it’s just dried fruits and syrup.
